The Little Mahanoy Township is a township in Northumberland County , Pennsylvania in the United States . At the time of the 2010 United States Census , the township had 479 residents, up from 435 in 2000.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of ​​27.1 km 2 , without any significant body of water. The township is wedge-shaped with the tip pointing west.

The geographical boundaries of the township are formed by the surrounding mountains. To the northwest, the border with Lower Augusta Township runs along Little Mountain , and further to the east, north of Little Mountain, is Rockefeller Township . To the south, Little Mahanoy Township ends in the east at Line Mountain ; neighboring there are the Washington Township and to the west of it the Jackson Township . To the west, Line Mountain merges into Little Mountain. Both mountains are separated by the Dornsife Gap . In the west and south-west, the Little Mahanoy Township ends roughly where Mahanoy Mountain rises to the east . To the north is the neighboring Zerbe Township and south of the ridge is the West Cameron Township .

There are three named settlements within the township. In the valley of the Zerbe Run in the northeast of the township is the scattered settlement of Dunkelberger and not far from the confluence of the Zerbe Run with the Mahanoy Creek is Hunter . The Dornsife settlement is on Line Mountain not far from the breakthrough through which Mahanoy Creek leaves the township.

Much of the mountains in the south and west of the township belong to State Game Land Number 84 .

There were 159 housing units at an average of 5.9 per km ². The population of Little Mahanoy Townships was 99.08% White , 0.23% Black or African American , 0% Native American , 0.23% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0% said they were of other races and 0, 46% named two or more races. 0% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
