The Ski Jumping World Cup 2017/18 was the most important competition series of the season in ski jumping hosted by the World Ski Federation FIS . The men's World Cup was held from November 18, 2017 to March 25, 2018 and comprised 23 individual and eight team competitions. The women's World Cup was held from December 1, 2017 to March 25, 2018 and comprised 17 individual and two team competitions, which took place for the first time in the history of women's ski jumping.

Rule changes

  • With the 2017/18 season there were no more automatically pre-qualified jumpers for the first time.
  • For the women, the Lillehammer Triple was the first to have its own small ski jumping series. In addition, the two series Willingen Five and Planica 7 were new for men.
  • During the Four Hills Tournament, a high-speed camera and chip system was used on the jump skis for the first time in order to obtain more precise data on the quality of the jump for spectators and athletes.

Men

For the second time after the 2013/14 season, Kamil Stoch was able to secure the overall World Cup; He also won all competition series: the Four Hills Tournament , the Willingen Five , the Raw Air and the Planica 7 . Richard Freitag , who had dominated the first part of the season, had to be content with second place in the overall standings, while Daniel-André Tande came in third as in the previous season .

Defending champion Stefan Kraft could not win a jumping, but ended up in fourth place with eight podium places. His predecessor Peter Prevc , overall World Cup winner 2015/16 , who finished fifteenth overall with just one podium finish in Zakopane fared much worse .

Participating Nations

Jumpers from 20 nations took part in the men's World Cup.

Europe (15 nations)
Asia (3 nations)
North America (2 nations)

World Cup overview
