Paul Winter (born October 5, 1997 in Sangerhausen ) is a German ski jumper . He has been part of the customs ski team since 2016 .

Career

Winter began his active ski jumping career as a student at the Willingen ski boarding school at SC Willingen . On August 6, 2011 he reached second place in the junior competition in Hinterzarten . In February 2012 he secured his first victory at the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2012 in Žiri and with the team he jumped to second place. In September 2012, Winter made his debut in the Alpine Cup.

2013 Winter got a starting place for the European Youth Olympic Festival in Brașov . In ski jumping on the hills of Râşnov he reached seventh place in the individual. In team competition, he and his teammates Julian Hahn , Thomas Dufter and Sebastian Bradatsch won the silver medal behind the team from Slovenia . In March, winter was used for the first time in the FIS Cup . He clearly missed the points in Oberstdorf twice. He then remained in the squad for the Alpine Cup. At the beginning of winter 2013/14, Winter jumped into the top ten twice in Seefeld in Tirol .

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2014 in Val di Fiemme , Winter achieved tenth place in the individual. With the team he jumped to fifth place.

After the Junior World Championships, Winter achieved his first Alpine Cup victory in Kranj. At the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA 2014 in Gérardmer , he also won the gold medal in the junior individual competition and with the team. A little later, in Chaux-Neuve , he also celebrated his second win in the Alps. In the summer of 2014, he switched to training in Oberstdorf, but continued to compete for SC Willingen. There he visits the ski boarding school in Oberstdorf .

In August, Winter got a starting place in the FIS Cup for the second time and immediately jumped into the top ten in Kuopio as seventh. Although he could not convince in the second competition as 41st, he made his debut in the ski jumping Continental Cup just one day later at the same place . In both competitions he proved his qualities and landed in the points. In September he traveled with the A-team to the Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Almaty . As 27th and 26th he won Grand Prix points in both competitions and finished the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2014 in 69th place overall.

For the 2014/15 season , Winter started firmly in the Continental Cup squad. Although he could not win any points in any of the jumping competitions in Rena , he was nominated by national coach Werner Schuster for the national group in the jumping for the Four Hills Tournament 2014/15 . In Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen , however, he missed the qualification.

After Winter was last able to win Continental Cup points in January 2017 in Bischofshofen , around three years later in January 2020 in Klingenthal he was 16th again in the points.
