The Kirchentellinsfurt hydropower plant is located near Kirchentellinsfurt in the Tübingen district in Baden-Württemberg and is fed from the water of the Neckar . It went into operation in 1926 and is now operated by FairEnergie, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Reutlingen . It combines a run-of-river power plant and a pumped storage power plant . The power plant is located in the Einsiedel district - that's why you can find it under this name in relevant lists.

Run-of-river power plant

The water required to operate the run-of-river power plant is diverted from the Neckar via a weir and flows to the power plant in a two-kilometer canal . There the water reaches the two double Francis twin turbines via four inlets . Each of the machines is rigidly coupled to a three-phase generator and has a nominal output of 600 kW .

pumped storage power plant

The underwater basin of the pumped storage power plant is located directly at the power plant, the 130 meters higher upstream basin is one kilometer north of the power plant on the slope of the Neckar valley . The pumped storage plant has an output of 1300 kW. Since November 2011 it has only been operated for maintenance.
