Watussi is an Australian Latin rock band that was formed in 2005.

history

In 2008 Watussi was nominated for an ARIA Award for her debut album Tequila - Sangre - Fuego . In 2008 and 2009 the band toured Japan and Korea several times . They played among others in South Korea at the "Ulsan World Music Festival" and in Japan at the "Horie Music Festival". Brit Brian Eno selected the band to perform at the 2009 Vivid LIVE festival at the Sydney Opera House . The song Echale Fuego was number one for two weeks on the Japanese radio station FM Cocolo . In 2010 the band went on tour in South America . Here the band played at the “Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro” in Bogotá , Colombia, as the first Australian band ever. In 2011 the band released the EP 1000 Percent Handsome , which was produced by Joel Hamilton . Also in 2011 the second album El Olvido was released. In the same year the band toured Australia with Santana.

On November 17th, 2012 the band played at the AWME. The AWME is Australia's largest music fair.
