Waukeenah is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County in the US state Florida with 272 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Waukeenah is about 15 km south of Monticello and about 20 km east of Tallahassee . The CDP is crossed by US Highway 27 ( SR 20 ).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 272 inhabitants were distributed over 122 households. 72.4% of the population identified themselves as white and 26.5% as African American . 0.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.4% to several ethnic groups. 1.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 27.5% of all households lived in 32.4% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 74.5% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.13.

27.1% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 25.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 48.5% of the population were male and 51.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 49,228, with 26.6% of the population living below the poverty line.
