Wayde Preston

Wayde Preston (actually William Erksine Strange ; born September 10, 1929 in Denver , Colorado ; † February 6, 1992 in Lovelock , Nevada ) was an American actor .

Life

Preston grew up in Laramie ( Wyoming on) with two younger sisters (Joan and Mary). Parents John and Bernice Strange were both schoolteachers. He graduated from Laramie High in 1947 and began studying pharmacy at the University of Wyoming .

In 1950 he was drafted into the military and spent about a year in the Korean War. He then became a park ranger in Grand Teton National Park and took part in rodeos in Wyoming. He also worked as a pilot for TWA. In 1956 he married Carol Ohmart - they divorced two years later.

After appearing on an episode of the Cheyenne series with Clint Walker , Preston got the lead role in Colt 45 . There he played the secret agent Christopher Colt . The first episode aired on October 18, 1957. Preston went to Italy in the 1960s; there he worked v. a. in spaghetti western with. He returned home to the United States in the late 1970s and then played mostly minor roles - the last as 'Jack' in Captain America (1991). Preston died of colon cancer on February 6, 1992 .
