Wayne Douglas Stetina (born December 4, 1953 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is a retired American cyclist .

In 1972 Wayne Stetina finished second in the American amateur road championship . In the following years he became national champion five times, in 1975 and 1980 in the individual time trial , in 1976, 1977 and 1985 in the amateur road race. He won the Fitchburg Longsjo Classic three times - in 1975, 1977 and 1978 - and is a record winner, as well as the Tour of Somerville in 1981 , the two most traditional road races in the USA. In 1977 he won the Coors International Bicycle Classic .

In 1972 and 1976 Stetina started in the team time trial at the Olympic Games . At the Pan American Games in 1979 in San Juan , Puerto Rico , he won the gold medal in this discipline with the American team. In 1985 he ended his career in competitive cycling, but continues to take part in races. He works for Shimano today . In addition, he sat on the board of the American Cycling Federation from 1979 to 1984.

Wayne Stetina is a brother of the cyclist Dale Stetina and an uncle of Peter Stetina .

In 1999 Wayne Stetina was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame .
