Webjet Linhas Aéreas was a Brazilian low-cost airline based in Rio de Janeiro .

history

Webjet was founded in 2005. In 2009 the company was the third largest Brazilian airline after TAM Linhas Aéreas and GOL with more than five million passengers .

On July 8, 2011, the competitor GOL announced that it will take over all shares of the previous shareholders of Webjet for 311 million reais . GOL wants to expand its route network in Brazil, the Webjet brand will no longer be used in the future.

The Webjet website has been offline since October 17, 2012; Visitors are redirected to the GOL website. The Webjet brand was discontinued on November 21, 2012 and the official end was announced on November 23, 2012 by GOL and the layoff of 850 Webjet employees. The Brazilian judiciary is investigating the case because irregularities are assumed.
