history

In the middle of the 17th century there was a weathered copperplate engraving of a portrait of Mary on a pasture near a spring . This was replaced in 1664 by a statue of the Virgin Mary carved by Johann Marcot , for which a new 11 × 7 meter large and 10 meter high wooden chapel was built around 1700, which was consecrated in 1709. The square quickly developed into a popular place for pilgrims , so that the Bründlkirche soon became too small.

In 1740 the landlord, Johann Baron Ludwigstorff , laid the foundation stone for a new pilgrimage church as a subsidiary church of the local parish church . It was completed in 1778, was the size of the Maria Dreieichen basilica and was fully equipped with a high altar , altar of grace, an organ, two towers and two bells. Empress Maria Theresa donated a mass dress . A dean and two chaplains looked after the pilgrims and held the services .

As a branch church, it fell victim to the reform of Emperor Joseph II in 1783 , was removed and parts of the building material were used to build the tower of the parish church, the statue of the Virgin Mary was placed in the parish church.

The cemetery, which was located around the parish church in the village, was moved to the place of the demolished Bründlkirche in 1808 due to lack of space and remained there until 1904. In 1923, three private individuals had today's chapel built in place of the old cemetery cross.
