The Wegmoosried area is a protected forest (protected area number 100109) in the south of the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, designated by ordinance of September 3, 2004 .
definition
In Baden-Württemberg, forest reserves are total reserves in which any use is prohibited by ordinance. In other countries in Germany, the total reserves are known as natural forest reserve , natural forest parcel , natural forest cell or natural forest . Forests are used for scientific research into natural processes in forests. Due to their wealth of structure and dead wood, ban forests are retreats for many endangered animal, plant and fungus species.
location
The approximately 20 hectares (ha) large, for natural space Upper Swabian hills belonging protective forest Wegmoosried situated at an altitude of around 585 meters above sea level. NN , about 1.8 kilometers southwest of the Wolpertswender town center in the Ravensburg district .
Protection purpose
Most of the forest protection area is part of the area named " Wetlands around Altshausen " that has been included in the national list of proposals for notification to the Commission for the establishment and protection of a European ecological network Natura 2000 .
The main protection purpose is to prevent the uninfluenced, spontaneous development of forest communities typical of the area (submontane eyelash sedge, beech and fir forest, species-poor beech, oak and fir forest, ash and alder forest of the valley floors and gullies, alder forest, spruce and bog forest, pines -Moor edge forest, mountain pine raised bog) with their location-typical animal and plant species and to ensure the scientific observation of the development. This includes the protection of the habitats and communities that are located in the area, that change in the course of the dynamic development of the forest within the protected area, or that arise through the dynamic development.
Connection with other protected areas
In addition to the FFH area “Wetlands around Altshausen” (protected area number DE-8023-341), Dornachried is part of the “ Vorsee-Wegenried ” nature reserve (4,048) and the “ Blitzenreuter Seenplatte with Altshauser Weiher ” bird protection area (DE-8123-441 ).
