history

A first wooden chapel is believed to be around 1100 and a small Romanesque stone building around 1250. It was first mentioned in a document in 1275 in a document about the sale of the patronage rights of knight Heinrich von Rydeburch to the Nimbschen monastery. From 1353 onwards, all income and taxes went to the monastery at the behest of the Bishop of Meißen . Around 1450 the chapel was expanded to become a church and the 16 m high tower was added. In 1509 the sacristy was added. As a result of the Reformation , the church became Protestant in 1525 and then separated from the Nimbschen Monastery, which was dissolved in 1533. Major renovations such as the addition of a vestibule in the north, the redesign of the east room and the raising of the ceiling were carried out in 1674, whereby the church received its present appearance.

description

The late Gothic hall church with a massive external appearance is a plastered quarry stone building with white paint and a saddle roof . On the west side there is a massive church tower, also with a gable roof, which is equipped with two windows and a clock tower on the top floor. On the north side of the nave , two low, tiled extensions are added. The south side contains three Gothic pointed arch windows. Inside there is a richly designed church interior in rural or village baroque style . The narrow, two-storey altar from 1695 was made by an unknown sculptor from Rochlitz . It shows a communion motif in relief . At the same time the pulpit and the confessional were made. These are decorated with colored carvings. The font from the 14th century was made of Rochlitz porphyry tuff . The detailed painted galleries from 1654 show scenes from the New Testament . The wooden ceiling from 1695 has a uniform color scheme of gray, white and blue and shows the crucifixion of Jesus as well as some portraits of the prophets. The organ was installed in 1803 by the organ builder Johann Georg Friedlieb Zöllner .
