Dicypellium is a genus from the family of the laurel family , the two species in the Brazilian Amazon basin occurs. Dicypellium caryophyllaceum is used because of its aromatic bark and is now considered an endangered species.
features
Dicypellium have alternate leaves with feather-like veins . The flowers are in little-flowered botryoid panicles . They are threefold with a deep cup-shaped flower base . The perianth consists of the outer two whorls with six similar tepals . This is followed by a circle of tepalen-like, sterile stamina , a feature that is otherwise only found within the family in the genus Phyllostemonodaphne . The six stamina of the two inner whorls are fertile, have four-chambered anthers on short filaments and are covered with glands . A fourth whorl with triangular staminodes is usually not present. The fruit is a berry with a flat fruit cup with a double rim and the remaining enlarged and hardened tepals.
