history

The former fortified church watched over the trade routes to the south and north that once ran along there and is also called "Zum Lamme Gottes". It was located in Herschdorf on the "Long Mountain". After the previous church was demolished in 1587–1691, today's church was built. It dates from the Baroque period , its tower goes back to the older previous building from the Gothic period .

At that time, Allersdorf and Willmersdorf belonged to the parish . That is why the church had three galleries , one for each village, so that there was room for 500 people.

For the construction of the church building , stones from the St. Mary's chapel, which stood outside the village, were also used. The round tower is striking from afar . It is said that the nave was added to the round tower of the fortified church or the control room. Another version is that building a round tower with local stones is better and cheaper, claimed Pastor Jacob Günther Werner. This tower was completed in 1691. At the beginning of the 19th century and after a fire in 1991, the upper part was renewed.

The bell is sonorous. In the 19th century a renovation took place and only a floor was installed, so that much of the original structure has been preserved. In the meantime, the roof has been slated and the ceiling barrel has been plastered. The stucco cassettes have been renewed and the interior was also painted . The pulpit and the altar have been restored.

The former Schulze organ is completely destroyed. The pipes are stored, but the organ is to be reconstructed.
