The white-throated wood warbler ( Granatellus venustus ) is a species of songbird from the family of wood warblers (Parulidae) that occurs in Central America .

description

Appearance

Adult white-throated wood warblers reach a length of 18.0 centimeters and a weight of 9.6 to 11.4 grams. There is a clear sexual dimorphism between the sexes . The head of the males is black, the throat and a stripe above the eyes are white. The back plumage, the wings and the control feathers are lead-gray to blue-gray. The entire underside is red and bordered by whitish flanks. The females show similar drawing elements as the males, but these are much paler in color, so the head and rest of the plumage are dull gray and the underside is yellowish. In both sexes, the beak is blackish-gray, as are legs and feet. The iris is black-brown.

Way of life
