The Weiherbach is a one and a half kilometers long river near the village Menningen town Meßkirch in the district of Sigmaringen in southern Baden-Wuerttemberg , which is about a quarter kilometers northeast of the village edge of the left and northeast in the village of Ablach tapered Talbach flows.

geography

course

The Weiherbach rises about one and a half kilometers northeast of the center of the Meßkircher village Menningen beyond the Bol at a rear-lined dirt road in the depression in the floor fields to about 643  m above sea level. NN . After just a hundred meters on the north-west course, the stream flows through a chain of ponds, followed by two more groups of ponds on the course, which runs a quarter of a circle. Shortly after the northernmost point of the course, coming from the northeast from a forest hollow in front of the Haselberg , an approximately just as long and just as catchment-rich right upper course flows towards the Lochäckern . On the following lower course, the Talaue expands strongly, about 250 meters to the northeast the Weiherbach then runs into the Talbach coming from the right with a much longer course and a more important catchment area, which however loses a significant amount of water through seepage. In any case, the unified stream continues to flow in the direction of the inlet of the Weiherbach and soon flows into the Ablach in Menningen .

Catchment area

The Weiherbach has a catchment area of around 2.1 km². Its contour is roughly an isosceles triangle truncated at the corners, pointing northwards. The watershed in the north is consistently over 650  m above sea level. NN and reaches at the northeast corner on the summit of Haselberg 665  m above sea level. NN ; beyond the Riedbach drains over the Stelzenbach to the Danube . At the east-northeast border of the area is again 665  m above sea level. Reached NN and finally on Haselgasse even about 668  m above sea level. NN ; There are no significant tributaries to the Ablach running behind the ridge . The southern watershed runs against this over the ridge line of the Bol and rises up to about 663  m above sea level. NN , there are no significant direct competitors behind her either. The west-north- westerly finally separates from the catchment area of the Krebsbach , which approaches in the near southern reaches a little above the valley book; she rises on her from about 601  m above sea level. NN at the mouth of the Weiherbach in the direction of a knoll in the Kreuthau up to a little over 660  m above sea level. NN .

Almost half of the catchment area is forested, most of the forest is in the northeast. The valley basins mostly occupy meadows, above that there are mostly fields in the open corridor. With the exception of just under 135 hectares in the Haselgasse Flurgewann east of the source on the Göggingen district in the Krauchenwies community , the entire catchment area belongs to the Menninger district of Meßkirch. It is not populated anywhere.
