The Talbach is a 6.5 km long brook in the district of Sigmaringen in southern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the middle Ablach from the left and north in the village of Menningen in the city of Meßkirch .
geography
course
The Talbach rises a quarter of a kilometer south of the outskirts of Engelswies in the municipality of Inzigkofen on the eastern slope of the small Höcker Talsberg at almost 665 m above sea level. NN in the middle of fields. First and foremost flowing eastwards, it first forms a northerly one and a half kilometer long northern arc, after which it then flows further south. After almost twice as much flow, mostly on the edge of the Waldgewanne Kohlhau and Hartwald in the east, it enters this forest from the right at the confluence of the first more important inlet Kaibach . Immediately afterwards he gets lost in a swampy stream .
Afterwards, sporadically emerging and seeping away again, it flows through its forest valley section and within it the natural monument Steinrinne ("Felsentäle") in the Hartwald. Then it turns west and takes the Annenbach, which is almost as long here, from the right at the edge of the forest . In the corridor, the shorter Krebsbach flows out of the hard forest, and then the Weiherbach from the northeast near the northern outskirts of Menningen , in the direction of which it swings in here. After another 700 meters through the village, it flows into Menningen from the left and finally north again at about 592 m above sea level. NN in the middle Ablach .
Catchment area
The superficial catchment area of the Talbach covers 18.0 km². It has roughly the shape of a quadrangle with a 5.5 km long north side, a 5 km long northeast side, a less than 5 km long south side and a 5 km long southwest side. In it the Talbach runs much closer to the northeast than to the southwest, especially in the upper reaches. In almost a third of the catchment area in the north-west, the maps do not show any superficial watercourse, so runoff into other catchment areas is to be expected due to the karstification of the subsoil, which is also evident in the stream shrinkage .
The catchment area of the Stelzenbach , which flows directly into the Danube , borders in the north and northeast . The southern border almost touches the valley of the right Danube tributary, Ablach , which receives the Talbach , which is why there is no space for any significant tributaries to it. Beyond the southwest, the Teuerbach drains a little further up into the Ablach. In the far north-west, the watershed runs briefly against the drainage area of the Raintal with its only short tributary to the Danube.
The highest altitude in the area is reached in the northwest, where the watershed is up to about 763 m above sea level. NN runs over the Rainergetenkopf .
Almost half of the catchment area is forested, a third of a large contiguous forest area consisting of Kohlhau , Hartwald and Bannholz in the southwest in front of the narrow strip of land north of the Ablach near Menningen. Almost the entire smaller part stretches in the northwest from the Heckenberg to the Rainergetenkopf .
Engelswies lies entirely, Menningen with a large part, the Meßkirch village Langenhart with its southern tip in the catchment area.
