geography

course

Doline in which the Annenbach disappears for most of the year.
Stream shrinkage of the Annenbach

The Annenbach rises about 700 meters southwest of the outskirts of Engelswies in the municipality of Inzigkofen , between the Talsberg in the northeast and the Hackenberg in the west in the roughly south-south-east moving hollow of the Seibenwiesen district . Its upper course is a very straight ditch with only sporadic shrub vegetation at the beginning. After running about 1.2 km to the south-southeast through the corridor, the 0.8 km long Holzwiesengraben opens from the right and north-west ; in the downward angle of the mouth there is a pond of less than 0.1 ha. Less than 200 meters further down the stream, opposite the wood meadows, the large wooded area of Hartwald and Bannwald comes close, sometimes as far as the left bank of the stream, which now runs south. A little more than a kilometer further from the right, the short run of a 0.2 ha pond flows into the wood meadows. Less than half a kilometer further he steps into the Bannholz and turns abruptly to the east.

After about 800 meters of looping through the forest, it seeps away shortly before a forest path that crosses the valley basin from south to north from Igelswies in the south to Engelswies and thus about one kilometer from its mouth in a sinkhole ten meters in diameter and two meters deep in the hanging bank limestone des Weißjura ƒ3 (Tithonium, ti1). The water then emerges from a spring on the Ablach 1.2 km east-southeast near Igelswies .

The dry valley below runs further east-northeast through the forest, on the edge of the Bärenloch forest the bed re-enters the hallway and runs as a dead straight ditch a hundred meters northeast to the confluence with the Talbach .

The Annenbach accompanies the entire south-southeast running upper course near the border between the Rohrdorf district of the city of Meßkirch in the west and the Engelswies von Inzigkofen district in the east; for a large part of this stretch it is the border itself. Soon after its first approach to the forest, its southern course begins, from here the Menninger district of Meßkirch in the nearby forest edge extends almost to the left bank of the central course. The eastward moving underflow lies entirely within the Menninger district.

Catchment area

The Annenbach drains approx. 4.3 km², due to its infiltration mostly underground to the Ablach , the rest above ground to its left tributary Talbach . Its aboveground catchment area borders in the north and east, and in the west that of the Teuerbach, which also runs into the Ablach from the left on the northeast edge of the central Messkirch .

The greatest heights in the catchment area are on its northern edge on the summit of the Hackenberg ( 689  m above sea level ) and especially on its northwest corner on a forest crest beyond the K 8279 to the Feuerhart at about 696  m above sea level. NN . There is forest on a little more than a third of the area, over three quarters of this belongs to the large wooded area consisting of hard forest and Bannholz east of the middle and both sides of the lower reaches. The smaller remainder is due on the northern watershed from Hackenberg to the west. There is only one single farm in the western wood meadows that is part of Rohrdorf.
