action

A bus with children are traveling in the diet - Sanatorium Weissbach . The children have one thing in common, they are too fat and one of them is seven-year-old Robert Becher. Everyone says fat people eat too much, but it's not that simple. The film aims to help children like Robert be better understood. On a Sunday, when the children stay in bed and only get juice to drink, Robert explains why he has become so fat. It was really just because he always ate too much with his mum and grandpa. The home manager explains to the children that they should learn to eat less and move more during the six-week stay at the spa. The scales at the first examination show Robert 42.8 kg and at discharge he weighs 36.4 kg. Back home, he would like to lose another 4.6 kg to his normal weight, which he can only do with the support of his parents.

Robert goes to the first grade of a polytechnic high school in Erfurt . Since he has been excessively fat since his earliest childhood, he also has problems with other children, which have increased since he started school. He is often rejected and teased by the other children. It subsided after his stay at the spa, but it hasn't stopped completely. He also rarely finds friends who want to play with him.

Robert's grandparents and his aunt live in Schwerstedt , a village near Erfurt. He likes to go there often because he likes his aunt. He can also help out on his grandparents' farm, which gives him great pleasure. During such a visit, grandfather puts him on the scales. The result, with things: over 40 kg.

criticism

According to Birgid Galle in Neues Deutschland , she felt that the film was a little too superficial with what it portrayed. The topic was implemented only pictorially and blurred and it lacked a recognizable author's point of view.
