Weite (in the local dialect d'Witi ) is a village in the political municipality of Wartau in the canton of St. Gallen . It is the northernmost village in the municipality.
Geographical location
Weite is north of the village of Trübbach at about the same height. If you drive through the village size, one passes through the villages and Fontnas Gretschins to Oberschan . In addition, the hamlets of Plattis and Murris can be reached from afar .
traffic
Canton road no.13 leads through the village of Weite . Weite is connected to public transport via an RTB bus line. The station on the Chur – Rorschach railway line was discontinued when the timetable changed in December 2013.
population
With 1307 inhabitants (as of December 2015), Weite is the second least populated village in the municipality of Wartau.
education
The kindergarten children from Weite are taught together with the children from Oberschan , Malans SG, Fontnas and Gretschins in the kindergarten in Fontnas.
The first to sixth as well as the small grades are taught in the local school house in Weite. The high school students visit the OZ Seidenbaum in Trübbach .
societies
The Turnverein Weite ( TV Weite ) is the village's local gymnastics club.
