Renowned meteorologist Valery Landis fears the worst when severe thunderstorms hit her hometown of Bell's Point, Oregon . As part of a series of experiments, she makes a terrible discovery: violent storms between Tokyo and Munich threaten to merge into a devastating storm front. Valery's conjecture: global storms of unimaginable proportions will dramatically change the earth's atmosphere and cause a new ice age - a fatal catastrophe would be imminent for mankind. But Valery's warnings go unheeded. Neither her superior nor the authorities involved, nor the military around General Fields believe the committed researcher. So Valery can only count on the support of her husband Mark, who is busy with scientific research at the North Pole , and her son Jeremy. Finally Valery develops a plan with which she wants to avert the impending disaster. But the project is extremely risky. After the military under General Fields refuses to support the dangerous enterprise, Valery and Mark risk their careers, reputation and lives to avert the impending natural disaster .
