The Wengental even Wengen Valley ( Ladin Val de Spëscia , Italian Val di Spessa ) is an orographic right side valley of Val Badia in South Tyrol . It branches off in the middle Val Badia near Pederoa and leads in a roughly eastward direction into the Dolomites , where it is surrounded by mountains of the Fanes group . It is drained by the Wengener Bach ( Rü de Ćiampló ), which flows into the Gader . Administratively, the entire valley belongs to the Wengen municipality .

In its lower part the Wengental several villages can accommodate, under which the village St. Genesius (1320- 1400  m slm , San Senese ) is the most important. On the north side, the Kreuzspitze ( 2021  m ) and the Paresberg ( 2396  m ) border the Wengental from the Enneberger Tal ; The Antonispitze ( 2655  m ), the Neuner ( 2968  m ) and the Zehner ( 3026  m ) rise above the head of the valley, which is already under protection in the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park . The uppermost section of the valley, which runs up to the Antonijoch between Antonispitze and Neuner, is called Fanestal ( Val de Fanes ).

The valley can be reached for general road traffic via the valley road that starts at Pederoa and ends at Pederü.
