The Paresberg ( Ladin Sas de Crosta , Italian Monte Pares , 2396  m slm ) is a mountain in the Fanes group in the Dolomites . It is the first larger and rocky peak in the ridge running from northwest to southeast, which separates the Wengental in the southwest from the Rautal in the northeast. The mountain, which is under protection in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, is easiest to reach from the west from the Wengen Valley, an eastern side valley of the Val Badia . On its north and east sides, the mountain is very rocky and rugged, it is less forbidding from the west. From the summit, a very distinctive ridge leads initially at a fairly constant height in a south-easterly direction, after a little more than three kilometers the ridge turns south and climbs to the Antonispitze ( 2655  m ). The view is dominated in the south by the repulsive northern drops of the Neuner and Zehner .

Climbs

The shortest ascent starts a little above Wengen at the Ciurnadú car park ( 1575  m ). From there it goes first south-east, later north over a very steep road up. From the road, the ascent path to Paresberg branches off in an easterly direction, then turns again briefly to the south, before the height of the ridge running from Paresberg to the south-east is gained quite steeply in an easterly direction. You reach the summit via the karst south-east ridge. The summit cross is not at the highest point, but at the elevation that is best seen from Wengen. In the summit area there are several, almost equally high peaks, from the furthest north in front there is a comprehensive view of the Rautal and St. Vigil.
