The Marebbe Valley , also Ennebergtal or short Mareo ( Ladin Val de Mareo or short Mareo , Italian Val di Marebbe ) is an orographic right side valley of Val Badia in South Tyrol . It branches off in the lower Gadertal at Zwischenwasser and leads - in sections known by different names - mostly in a south-easterly direction into the Dolomites , separating the Braies Dolomites and the Fanes Group . It is drained by the Vigilbach ( Rü d'Al Plan ), which flows into the Gader . Administratively, the entire valley belongs to the municipality of Enneberg .

In its lower part the Marebbe Valley accommodate several villages, under which the village St. Vigil is the most important, which is why it there as Vigiltal or St. Vigil Valley is called. The uninhabited section, protected in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park, begins above St. Vigil . From this point on , the valley known as Rautal (Ladin Val dai Tamersc , Italian Val di Rudo ) narrows between the high rock faces of the Paresberg and Muntejela de Senes . Behind Pederü , the valley - now called Valun de Fanes - turns in a south-westerly direction and ends on the Fanes plateau , which is surrounded by numerous high peaks such as the Zehner ( 3026  m ) and the Piz Lavarela ( 3055  m ).

The valley can be reached for general road traffic via the valley road that starts at Zwischenwasser and ends at Pederü. In addition, the 1789  m high Furkelpass from St. Vigil offers a direct transition to the Puster Valley from the northeast .
