Pederü ( Ladin : Üćia Pederü ) is the name of a private mountain hut in the Dolomites in South Tyrol , Italy . The hut can be reached from St. Vigil . Etymologically , the name is interpreted as ad pedem de rivo , "at the foot of the stream".

Geographical location

The Üćia Pederü is located at an altitude of 1548 m at the upper end of the Rautal , which leads from St. Vigil in the municipality of Marebbe south-east. The area is protected in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park . Pederü is the end of a toll mountain road that begins behind St. Vigil.

history

The cabin served in the Dolomites War of the Austrian side as a supply base for the Dolomite front, the southeast which Fanes Plateau was. Remnants of an old cable car are still visible.

Attractions

The Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park can be hiked from Pederü. Some of the paths run along old military roads from the First World War, which are generally closed to private car traffic, but are delivery routes for the huts in Sennes and Fanes.
