The Muntejela de Senes ( Italian Monte Sella di Senes , 2787  m slm ) is the highest peak of the Sennes area in the Braies Dolomites . It is located in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, southeast of St. Vigil . While the mountain shows quite steep and craggy flanks to the west and north into the Rautal , the slopes on the south and east sides drop only moderately steeply to the Sennes plateau. The summit offers a comprehensive view of the Dolomites east of the Val Badia , but cannot be seen particularly well from the valley; from San Vigilio the northwestern secondary summit ( 2668  m ) obstructs the view of the main summit. In summer, the mountain can be reached on an easy, marked trail, in winter the summit is often climbed as part of a ski tour or with snowshoes .

Climbs

The usual ascent to Muntejela de Senes leads east from Pederü up the steep road in serpentines. After about 300 meters it becomes flatter and there are two alternatives for the way to the Munt-de-Senes-Hütte ( 2245  m ): Either via the Senneshütte ( 2126  m ) or west around the Col de Lasta ( 2311  m ) directly to the higher hut.

From the Munt-de-Senes-Hütte it goes very straight in a north-westerly direction, first over alpine meadows, later - in the karst- becoming terrain - through a long, ravine-like sinkhole in exactly the right direction. You climb a good bit, still in a north-westerly direction, into the south-east kar of the mountain, later cross in a south-westerly direction to the south-east ridge of the mountain, finally over a few crags . You reach the summit via the moderately steep, fairly wide ridge.
