The Senneshütte ( Italian Rifugio Sennes , Ladin Üćia de Senes ) is a refuge in the Dolomites .
Location and surroundings
The Senneshütte is located at an altitude of 2116 m in the south of the Sennes plateau. It is located in the municipality of Marebbe in South Tyrol , Italy , in the Fanes-Senes-Braies nature reserve . The Sennes Lake ( Lé de Senes in Ladin ) and a small settlement of alpine huts are in the immediate vicinity of the hut .
The hut is easiest to reach from St. Vigil , the main town of Marebbe. From there you get to the southeast through the Rautal, past the Kreidesee ( Lé dla Crëda ) to the Pederü mountain hut . From Pederü a path leads in a north-easterly direction to the southern edge of the Sennes plateau and on to the Senneshütte.
The hut serves as a base for hikes and climbing tours on the Sennes plateau and in the surrounding mountains. Towards the northeast you reach the Seekofelhütte , which is a starting point for the ascent of the Seekofel . On the paths leading to the north-west you get to the Seitenbachscharte ( Forcela de Riciogogn ), from which you can continue to descend to the Pragser Wildsee , and to the Sennesjoch, which separates the plateau from the Krippestal ( Val de Ćiastlins ).
history
The Sennes hut was built between 1937 and 1939 by the Palfrader "Corjel" family and inaugurated in the 1940s. In 1962 it received a water pipe and an electricity generator, in 1968 it was opened up by a road. It was significantly expanded in the course of renovation work in 1985.
