The Seekofelhütte ( Italian Rifugio Biella alla Croda del Becco ) is a refuge in the Dolomites .
Location and surroundings
The Seekofelhütte is located at 2327 m slm on the Fosses-Alm near the Ofenscharte ( Porta Sora al Forn , 2388 m slm ). It is located in the municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the province of Belluno ( Veneto , Italy ), near the border with South Tyrol .
The hut serves as a base for hikes and mountain tours in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies nature park in South Tyrol and in the adjacent areas. While the Sennes-Fosses plateau stretches to the south and west, where the Senneshütte and the Fodara Vedla refuge are further alpine bases, to the north you can reach the Pragser Tal and the Pragser Wildsee via the Ofenscharte . To the northwest you get to the hut's local mountain, the Seekofel ( 2810 m slm , Ladin Sas dla Porta , Italian Croda del Becco ).
history
In 1907 the Egerer Hütte was built on the site of today's Seekofelhütte by the Eger section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club (DuÖAV) . After the First World War it was looted and expropriated by the Italian state, which in 1925 allocated it to the Biella section of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI). As a result, the hut was given its new Italian name Rifugio Biella . A few years later, the Treviso CAI section took over the building and added alla Croda del Becco (German on the Seekofel ) to the name. In 2016 the hut became the property of the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo.
