The Fodara Vedla refuge ( Ladin Üćia Fodara Vedla ) is a refuge in the Dolomites .

Location and surroundings

The refuge is located at 1966  m in the alpine village of Fodara Vedla on the southern edge of the Sennes-Alm in the Dolomites. It is located in the municipality of Marebbe in South Tyrol ( Italy ), in the Fanes-Senes-Braies nature park .

The hut serves as a base for hikes on the Sennes plateau and for climbing the surrounding mountains. The easiest way to get there is from St. Vigil in the northwest . From there you reach the Pederü shelter via the Rau valley , where the path leads to the Sennes Alm and Fodara Vedla to the east, while the Fanes plateau can be reached to the south . To the east of Fodara Vedla lies the border between South Tyrol and the province of Belluno , where the mountain hut's local mountain, the Lavinores ( Sas dla Para ), is already located. To the north you get to the nearby Senneshütte . The Muntejela de Senes and the Seekofel are among the most famous mountains that can be reached from here .

history

Originally there was only a shepherd's hut built after the First World War near today's refuge . This was expanded in 1935 and converted into accommodation for mountaineers. In the years 1979–1980 a new modern hut was built, while the old one was converted into a sleeping camp.
