Dina Foxx - Deadly Contact

Who will save Dina Foxx? is a transmedia project that was developed under the leadership of Max Zeitler together with ZDF , teamWorx and UFA-Lab and broadcast on ZDF in April / May 2011. Since the viewers were able to solve the Dina Foxx case themselves in an online game after the TV crime story was broadcast , the project was marketed as an “interactive crime story”. At the end of the project, the report “Who solves the riddle about Dina Foxx?” Was broadcast on ZDFinfo in May 2011 .

action

Dina Foxx is an online activist who, as a “Datagirl” on freidaten.org, warns users of the dangers of data collection by the state and business. After moving to Avadata, she used her reputation as a data protection officer to advertise a program that works like a digital eraser. This leads to tension with the former companions of freidaten.org. Dina's friend Vasco, who also works for Avadata, falls victim to a digital doppelganger. More and more threatening events happen to him, ranging from wrong account postings to messages sent from his mobile phone to an accident with a malfunctioning elevator. Vasco feels persecuted, appears paranoid, and then suddenly disappears.

When he is found dead, Dina's research begins. She finds out that Vasco was last gathering information about a company called Qoppamax. Since the evidence in the Vasco murder case suddenly all speaks against Dina, she is arrested. Dina claims to investigators that she herself has a digital doppelganger who is responsible for the overwhelming evidence. At this point the TV crime thriller ends abruptly and the TV viewers are invited to the eponymous rescue of Dina.

Interactive crime thriller

The rescue of Dinas could then be supported in two game versions on the internet for three weeks on the freidaten.org site. It was possible for inexperienced online gamers to play an easier alternative. A more complex game variant was offered for the experienced gamers among the audience. In both versions, the players were able to follow the tracks left in videos, images and websites and thus solve the case independently.
