Werner Compes

Werner Compes (born April 22, 1942 in Düsseldorf ) is a German opera singer ( tenor ) and singing teacher.

Life

After his vocal training with Franziska Martienssen-Lohmann , Paul Lohmann and Valerie Bak in Düsseldorf, Werner Compes was also tutored by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf at the beginning of his singing career . In 1969 and 1979 he received the sponsorship award from the city of Düsseldorf. One of the first high points of his career was in 1975 the first tenors' prize at the concorso internazionale per giovani artisti lirici in Montepulciano, which resulted in a degree from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with Mario del Monaco in Italy. Also in 1975 he appeared together with Anneliese Rothenberger in their television show Anneliese Rothenberger gives up the honor . In 1978 he completed a tour of Israel with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra with twelve concerts.

Compes celebrated further international success in 2004 at opera concerts and the TV production of the Mozart Requiem in Salvador / Brazil, in 2005 at TV concerts with Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Tokyo and in 2007 during a concert tour in Chile. He has also been a guest at numerous festivals in Germany and abroad, including the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival , the Munich Opera Festival , the Bad Hersfeld Festival , Wratislavia Cantans , the Flandern Festival in Gent, the Kasseler Musiktage , the Berliner Festwochen and the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen . Compes had permanent engagements at the state theaters in Braunschweig , Kassel and Darmstadt . The composer Giselher Klebe dedicated a cycle of songs to Compes, which he sang for the first time in 1977 in Hanover.

Werner Compes also works as a singing teacher in Düsseldorf, taking care of numerous young professionals as well as trained singers. He also works as a voice trainer for soloists and choir singers in the choir of the Johannes Church in Düsseldorf and the Vox Bona chamber choir in Bonn.
