Werner Dreibus

Werner Dreibus (born June 20, 1947 in Offenbach am Main ) is a former German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2006 to 2009 he was deputy chairman of the left parliamentary group in the Bundestag and from 2010 to 2012 he was one of two federal managers of the Left Party (with Caren Lay ).

Life and work

After elementary school , Dreibus completed an apprenticeship as a chemical technician and then worked in the profession he had learned. After attending the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt am Main, Dreibus worked as a secretary and teacher in adult education for the chemical, paper, ceramic and metal industry union. From 1994 to 2010 he was the first authorized representative of IG Metall in Offenbach.

Werner Dreibus is married and has a daughter. Today he lives in Wagenfeld in Lower Saxony .

Political party

Dreibus is one of the co-founders of the WASG in Hesse and was a managing member of the WASG State Board of Hesse until October 2005. He has been a member of Die Linke since June 16, 2007 . At the federal party conference on May 15, 2010, he was elected federal manager with 82.4 percent of the vote. In June 2012 he did not stand for election and his successor was Matthias Höhn .

MP

Since 2005 he has been a member of the German Bundestag and union political spokesman for the left-wing parliamentary group. In October 2006, Dreibus was elected deputy group chairman. In the 2009 Bundestag election he was re-elected to the German Bundestag. Werner Dreibus always entered the Bundestag via the State List of Hesse of the Linkspartei.PDS . For the general election in 2013 Werner Dreibus did not occur again and is no more since then a member of the German Bundestag.
