Werner Heubaum

Werner Heubaum (born September 2, 1931 in Berlin - † November 25, 2018 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and long-time State Secretary in Berlin.

Life

Werner Heubaum attended high school and did an apprenticeship as a machinist in 1949 . In 1947 he had already joined the " Falcons ". In 1951 he was first a candidate and later an employee at the Kreuzberg district office and joined the SPD the following year.

In the Berlin election in 1967 , Heubaum was able to win a direct mandate for the Berlin House of Representatives in the Schöneberg district . In the following election in 1971 he was re-elected and became chairman of the main committee in the House of Representatives. In May 1973, however, he resigned from parliament because he became Senate Director at the Senate Administration for Finance under Senator Heinz Striek (SPD). In this office, Heubaum served under seven senators for 22 years, including Günter Rexrodt (FDP) and Elmar Pieroth (CDU). In 1995 he retired and was, among other things, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the state-owned housing company Gewobag .

Honors

Heubaum received the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin in 1993 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 2001 . In 2012 he was given the honor of City Elder of Berlin .
