Werner Krause (diplomat)

Werner Krause (born September 14, 1935 ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Norway , Iceland and Denmark .

Life

Krause learned after completing the elementary school the profession of carpenter . He later took up studies, which he graduated in 1963 with a degree in political science .

From 1963 he belonged to the diplomatic service of the GDR. From 1967 to 1972 he was a sector manager in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). From 1972 to 1975 he was deputy head of the chamber representation and first secretary at the embassy of the GDR in Copenhagen . From 1975 to 1977 he worked as deputy head of the Northern Europe department at the MfAA, then from 1977 to 1984 he was ambassador to Oslo and second accredited in Iceland. From 1984 to 1989 he was deputy head of the West Berlin department at the MfAA. In 1989/1990 he was finally ambassador of the GDR in Copenhagen.

Krause was a member of the SED .
