Werner O. Ciocarelli

Werner Otto Ciocarelli (born February 14, 1925 ; resident in Zurich ; † April 15, 2020 ) was a Swiss manager and politician . He was Swiss governor of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

Life

Werner O. Ciocarelli was a board member of the insurance group Bâloise . He was a long-standing member of the board of directors responsible for real estate and mortgages at the Swiss Pro Senectute Foundation . He was a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council .

As a member of the Roman Catholic Central Commission of the Canton of Zurich , in 1977 he published the paper "Documentation on the question of the separation of church and state in the Canton of Zurich from a Catholic perspective".

Werner Ciocarelli was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . In 1964 he was made a Knight by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and invested in the Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Louis-Séverin Haller , Abbot Bishop of Saint-Maurice and Grand Prior of the Order of Knights in Switzerland . Ciocarelli was appointed governor of the Swiss Lieutenancy of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Giuseppe Caprio in 1990 . He was appointed Grand Cross Knight in 1990 and Honorary Governor in 2002. In 2002 he received the Golden Palm of Jerusalem . He was awarded the Papal Order of Gregory .
