Werner Schmitz (born June 3, 1948 in Bochum ) is a German writer .

Life

Werner Schmitz comes from a working class family . He grew up in Wattenscheid and attended grammar school up to secondary school . He then worked for 15 years in the Bochum city ​​administration , most recently as chief inspector in the civil engineering department . Schmitz 'active membership in the DKP led his employer to bring proceedings against him in accordance with the radical decree . Schmitz then switched to journalism and was a reporter for the city ​​magazine Marabo ; from 1989 to 2007 he was part of the Stern editorial team . He lives in Bochum.

Werner Schmitz is the author of socially critical crime novels and reports , and he also translated three books by Robert Ruark from the American. Since 2018 there has been a partly autobiographical story on the author's personal website: Ten blows on the buttocks or stumbling block for a Nazi.
