Werner Schroeder (2018)

Werner Schroeder (born May 1, 1962 in Cologne ) is a law scholar and university professor at the Institute for European and International Law at the University of Innsbruck , of which he is also director.

Professional main focus of his work as a university professor is the European Law with Other priorities: European Constitutional Law , European Business Law and European traffic and environmental law .

He is the author of numerous specialist publications on European law.

biography

Werner Schroeder studied law at the Universities of Passau and the University of Geneva ( Switzerland ) from 1981 to 1986 . In 1986 he passed the first state examination in law. In 1989 he received his doctorate in law at the University of Passau with the work: Sport and European Integration . From 1986 to 1990 Werner Schroeder was a trainee lawyer in the Munich Higher Regional Court district and from 1988 to 1989 research assistant at the Institute for International Law at the University of Munich. This was followed by the second state examination in law and from 1991 to 1992 studying abroad at the University of California, Berkeley , School of Law and the Master of Laws (LL.M.).

From 1990 to 1993 Werner Schroeder worked as a lawyer at Droste Killius Triebel (now: Hogan Lovells ) in Munich .

From 1993 to 2001, Werner Schroeder scientific assistant , then assistant professor , at the Department of State and Administrative Law , International Law and European Law at the University of Passau.

In 1999 he completed his habilitation at the University of Passau with the thesis The Community Legal System and the granting of the venia legendi for constitutional and administrative law, European law , international law and legal theory .

Werner Schroeder has been a professor at the Institute for European and International Law at the University of Innsbruck since 2001. He has also been the head of this institute since 2005. He succeeded Waldemar Hummer in this function .

Memberships and functions

Werner Schroeder is a member of the German Society for International Law (DGIR), the Association of German Constitutional Law Teachers (VDStRl), the Center for European Law (CEP) at the University of Passau and Senior Research Fellow at the CEP as well as the Scientific Advisory Board for European Law of the Federal Ministry for Europe , Integration and the outside world in Vienna .
