Werner Zager
Werner Kurt Zager (born June 30, 1959 in Worms ) is a German theologian and author.
Life
Werner Zager was born in Worms as the son of the secondary school teacher and principal Kurt Zager and his wife, Marianne Zager (née Krebs), an accountant. After graduating from high school in 1977 at the Gauß-Gymnasium there , he studied Protestant theology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .
Zager in 1987 with his dissertation "term and rating apocalyptic in the New Testament Research" at the University of Mainz for Dr. theol. PhD. Since 1993 he has been pastor in the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau . In 1996 he completed his habilitation as a research assistant with the thesis “God's rule and final judgment in the proclamation of Jesus” in the subject of the New Testament at the Ruhr University in Bochum . From 1997 to 2003 he worked as a university lecturer at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Bochum, and since 2002 as an adjunct professor . Since 2003 he has been the head of evangelical adult education in the dean's office in Worms- Wonnegau and works as an adjunct professor and lecturer in the department of evangelical theology at the University of Frankfurt .
Zager's areas of research include: apocalyptic and eschatology in early Judaism and Christianity, historical Jesus research , liberal theology and exegesis , David Friedrich Strauss , William Wrede , Albert Schweitzer and Rudolf Bultmann .
Zager's literary works are listed (in part) in Kürschner's German Scholars Calendar from the De Gruyter science publisher .
Werner Zager has been married to pastor Dorothea Zager (née Proescholdt) since 1988. The marriage had three children.
Other work
Werner Zager has been President of the Federation for Free Christianity since 2002 . Zager works part-time as an organist in the evangelical parish in Worms-Horchheim .
