The Weserstein passenger ship in May 2020 at Tanzwerder in Hann. Münden

The Weserstein is a passenger ship on the Oberweser and is used as a day excursion ship in regular services and for themed trips from Hann. Münden used. The ship belongs to Mündener Fahrgastschifffahrt GmbH, is operated by Weserstein Touristik GmbH and continues the history of passenger shipping on the Weser in Hann. Münden away. It is approved for a maximum of 150 people. The ship was named after the Weserstein on the Tanzwerder in Hann. Münden.

history

The ship was built in 1969 as the Allernixe by the shipyard Leendert Cornelius de Groot in Arkel (Netherlands), the original length being 20.5 m. In 1972, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2020 the ship names and / or owners changed. From 2004 to 2020 it was already sailing on the Weser as Dornröschen II ( Sleeping Beauty ) for the Weser fleet . Before that, from April 15, 2000 to 2003, it operated as Junker Griese ( Junker Griese ) for Maria Janssen in Barßel on the Soeste , who had taken over the ship from Lüdinghausener Personenschiffahrt in Olfen , where it operated as Stever Queen ( Stever ) from May 1998 the Dortmund-Ems Canal was used. The Verdener Fahrgast-Schiffahrt in Verden (Aller) operated the ship as Allerland from 1995 to 1998 and extended it in the bow area by approx. 6 m to today's dimensions in 1996.

On May 30, 2020 the ship had a failure of the Schottel drive and ground contact at Weser river kilometer 5.3 (at the level of the FFH area “Ballertasche” ) at a water level of 114 cm , causing damage to the propeller . The ship drifted around 400 meters with the current before it could be fixed on the left bank (Hessian river side). The passengers were able to leave the ship unharmed. The Kassel waterway police investigated the course of the accident, found only damage to the propeller that was typical for ground contact and attributed the accident to a driving error by the skipper. After eliminating the drive malfunction, the Weserstein could go to Hann. Münden and is back in operation after replacing the propeller.

The ship

The ship is 26.70 meters long and 4.86 meters wide. The average draft is 80 centimeters. The ship, christened the Weserstein, offers seats for almost 150 passengers, who can be found in a salon and on two outside decks.
