The West Fork River is the 166 km long headwaters of the Monongahela River in the north of the US state West Virginia .
About the Monongahela and Ohio River it belongs to the catchment area of the Mississippi River . It has a gentle slope and flows at a low speed. Therefore, this is the river very popular for fishing and fish such as walleye , sauger , smallmouth bass , largemouth bass , golden trout , flathead catfish , rainbow trout and muskellunge inhabited.
Jackson's Mill was founded in 1800 by Edward Jackson along the river north of Weston . His grandson, Thomas Jonathan Jackson , spent his youth there.
