The West River is a right tributary of the Connecticut River in the southern US state of Vermont .

The West River rises south of Mount Holly in the Green Mountains . From there it flows south past Londonderry . Further down the river is Ball Mountain Lake , Jamaica State Park , Jamaica , and another reservoir, Townshend Lake . The West River gradually turns to the southeast. Later it takes up the Rock River from the right, before it finally flows north of Brattleboro into the Connecticut River. On the upper reaches, Vermont State Route 100 runs along the West River, while on the lower reaches, Vermont State Route 30 runs largely along the river bank. The West River has a length of 74 km. Its catchment area covers 1083 km².

On the lower reaches of the West River, the West Dummerston Covered Bridge spans the river.
