The Westerkienberg is a 1,488 meter high mountain between the Bärenmoosalpe and the Vilstal in the Tannheimer Mountains ( Allgäu Alps ) in the Pfrontens area ( Ostallgäu district ).
Environment and structure
The mountain is located south of the foothills of the Edelsberg (1630 m) towards Jungholz and the Vilstal and northwest of the Bärenmoosalpe . The Ächsele (1515 m and 1524 m) and the Schönkahler (1688 m) are to be found in the south of the Westerkienberg, while the eponymous Kienberg (1535 m) lies in the northeast .
Almost the entire mountain is forested, and there are some meadows in the immediate vicinity of the Bärenmoosalpe . In addition, a mighty ledge, the Feuerschrofen , breaks off in the direction of Vilstal .
