Arup Raha , PVSM , AVSM , VM , ADC ( Hindi : अरुप राहा ; Bangla : অরূপ রাহা ; born December 26, 1954 in Baidyabati , Hugli District , West Bengal ) is a former Indian General (Air Chief Marshal) who from January 1 2014 to 31 December 2016, chief of Staff of the air force of India (chief of the air Staff) was.

Life

After attending the military school (Sainik School) in Purulia , Raha, son of a doctor, began training as an officer in the Air Force of India in 1970 at the National Defense Academy ( NDA ) in Khadakwasla near Pune , graduating in 1973 with the President's gold medal the NDA. He then completed pilot training, which he finished in December 1974. In the following years he was also trained as a fighter pilot, flight instructor and air combat leader at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal near Hyderabad .
