Wetter is a desert in the district of the city of Volkmarsen in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg , Northern Hesse .

location

The small church village was located about 2.5 km southwest of the medieval city center of Volkmarsen, about 500 m south of today's state road L3080 from Volkmarsen to Wetterburg and Bad Arolsen , at 195  m above sea level. NHN over the east bank of the Watter , where it describes a sharp arc to the west around the small weather chapel. The location was between the weather chapel and the large sand pit at the height above the chapel.

history

Less is known about the former village, which was abandoned towards the end of the 15th century, than about Mederich and Wittmar . In 1250 a knight Hermann von Wetter is mentioned, and in 1294 Count Otto I von Waldeck enfeoffed the knight Dietrich von Mederich with a quarter of his tenth in Wetter. The local church is said to have stood on the site of the weather chapel. Otherwise, remember today only field names of the sunken village.

The weather chapel

The small chapel is a simple construction of about 3.5 × 5 m floor area with a steep gable roof surrounded by a group of old chestnut trees . In the interior is the altar .
