Whangamata Harbor is a natural harbor on the Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand .

The Whangamata Harbor is located on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula with access to the Pacific Ocean . Whangamata is the only place located at the southern end of the natural harbor and directly at the approximately 125 m wide harbor entrance. The length of the body of water is around 4.5 km and at its widest point it measures around 1.5 km. The coastline of the elongated natural harbor with only one side arm extends for around 20 km. The natural harbor, which administratively belongs to the Thames-Coromandel District and the Waikato region, can be reached via the New Zealand State Highway 25 , which runs past the west bank of the harbor.
Whangamata Marina
At the north-western end of Whangamata is the marina with 209 berths, for which the initial part of the tributary, called Moanaanuanu Estuary , has been dredged and the tidal creek that leads to the lower center of the port has been deepened.
