The White Bear Township is a township in the US state of Minnesota . It is the only remaining township in Ramsey County and the most populous in the state. In 2010 , White Bear Township had 10,949 residents.

geography

The township is located north of Saint Paul in northeast Ramsey County. It consists of several unrelated areas. According to the United States Census Bureau , the area is 28.1 square kilometers, of which 8.7 square kilometers are water.

history

When the state of Minnesota was founded in 1858, the White Bear Township was established. The township, originally 36 square miles (93.2 square kilometers), formed independent cities with White Bear Lake (1881), North Oaks (July 1956), Vadnais Heights (July 1957) and Gem Lake (March 1959). Nevertheless, the White Bear Township remained as the only completely urbanized township in Minnesota and has an urban character in many respects due to the close cooperation with the neighboring cities and the county.

According to the 2010 census , the White Bear Township Township had 10,949 people in 4,261 households. The population density was 567.3 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.55 people lived in each of the 4,261 households.

The racial the population was composed of 94.5 percent white, 0.7 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 2.2 percent Asian, 0.1 percent Polynesian and 0.6 percent from other ethnic groups; 1.5 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 2.4 percent of the population.

21.7 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 64.9 percent were between 18 and 64 and 13.4 percent were 65 years or older. 51.1 percent of the population was female.

The average annual income for a household was 86,680  USD . The per capita income was $ 41,283. 3.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
