White Ravens Festival for international children's and youth literature

The White Ravens Festival for International Children's Literature (short White Ravens Festival ) is an international literary festival, which since 2010 every two years in July for six days in Munich and Bayern takes place at various venues. It is organized by the International Youth Library and is under the patronage of the Bavarian State Minister for Education and Culture, Science and Art.

The term White Ravens stands for extraordinary and innovative children's and youth literature . The main venue is the International Youth Library .

In addition, the invited authors and illustrators appear in youth and cultural centers, schools, museums, libraries, universities and other venues across Bavaria. In addition to open events, a program for schools is offered. During the festival week around 80 events take place in 40 cities and towns.

At all events, the authors present their texts in their mother tongue, while actors read from the German translation. Moderators and interpreters lead the conversation between author and audience. In addition, illustrator workshops, workshop discussions and panel discussions on children's literary topics are offered.
