The meadow legs ( Clavulinopsis , syn. Donkella and Multiclavula ) are a genus from the order of the chanterelle-like and include species with club-shaped or coral-shaped and often yellow-colored fruit bodies . They predominantly colonize grassland, which is also referred to by the German common name "Wiesenkeulen".

The type species of the genus is Clavulinopsis sulcata .

features

Macroscopic features

The unbranched or branched fruit bodies grow individually, in groups or in clusters. Mostly they show a yellow color, although the color spectrum extends from white, gray, yellow, ocher to orange and brownish. They have no hymenophore , the spore powder is white to yellowish in color.

Microscopic features

The monomitic hyphae structure consists of more or less swollen and thin-walled fungal threads. The septa usually have buckles , secondary septa are absent. There are also no cystides . 1–6 spores can also mature on the normally 4-spore basidia . While basal buckles are present in most cases, secondary septa are absent. The elliptical, pear-shaped or subglobose spores are colorless, smooth or, more rarely, spiky ornamented and often filled with a large drop of oil. They neither show a color reaction when iodine is added ( inamyloid ), nor can the spore walls be stained with cotton blue (acyanophil).

ecology

The meadow legs grow mainly on earth, rarely on humus and small branches. They live saprobionic and predominantly colonize grassland (name!).

species

Worldwide the genus comprises 60 species, in Europe around 20 species are known or expected.
