The Wildkogel is 2224 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in the Austrian state of Salzburg . The grass-covered mountain, which is easily accessible, is now heavily developed for tourists, there is a ski area on its slopes and an inn is located south below the summit. Due to its solitary location, the Wildkogel offers an impressive panoramic view of the Großvenediger, among other things, which was described in the literature as early as the 19th century .
Location and surroundings
The mountain is located in the Oberpinzgau region , north of the west-east running Salzach Valley . Its north flank falls down into the Mühlbachtal , the east-north-east ridge runs to the Filzenhöhe (1921 m), the south side runs down to the Salzach and the west ridge runs down to the Dürnbachtal . The closest places are Neukirchen and Bramberg in about three and a half kilometers as the crow flies .
Tourist development
An extensive network of hiking trails and numerous ski lifts open up the Wildkogel. As a base for the south, located on 2,005 meters below the Wildkogels Built in 1898 can Wildkogelhaus serve.
