The Ebersberg Wildlife Park is located in the Ebersberger Forest in the east of Munich , between the villages of Kirchseeon , Anzing , Forstinning and Ebersberg . Its extension (fenced area) is limited by the state road 2080 in the north and east, as well as by the Schwaiger room in the west. The wildlife park covers most of the community-free areas Eglhartinger Forst and Anzinger Forst , as well as the small south-western part of the community-free area Ebersberger Forst .

Overview

The wildlife park serves as a recreational area for the population of the surrounding areas as well as the nearby city of Munich. With a fenced area of 4989 hectares, it encompasses the entire western area of the Ebersberg Forest. The fence was laid out as early as 1817 to delimit the courtly hunting area, was reduced in size for the first time in 1928 and has existed in the western part of the state forest since 1954.

With the 2004 forest reform in Bavaria , responsibility for the wildlife park was assigned to the Wasserburg forestry operation of the Bavarian State Forests . Two professional hunters are employed for game management in the wildlife park . In 2004, the management of the wildlife park was commissioned to make the game (red deer and wild boar) tangible for forest visitors. As part of a management concept drawn up by the Munich wildlife biology professor Wolfgang Schröder , a game rest zone was set up. This is located between the Schwaberwegen main room and the Echter room. In the north it is delimited by the road from Ebersberg to Anzing and in the south by the yodelling room. In the quiet zone, two observation areas with swings were set up, where wild animals can be observed.

The red deer in particular can be found at the feedings in the observation areas. The greatest likelihood of meeting the shy large mammals is at dusk, especially during the rut (September / October) and in winter when the game is being fed there. Wild boars can be found all day in the entire wildlife park. As a rule, the animals pose no danger, but collisions between cyclists and wild boars have been reported. The canines of male wild boars also pose a potential danger, particularly when attempting to feed the animals, which is otherwise prohibited.
